FINAL PROJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (with due date and instructions)

Advanced Illustration for Production
Final Project

·      This project will be due on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 (week 11). It will be worth 100pts.

·      The objective of this assignment will be to reimagine a character/concept that already exists within pop culture (it can be a cartoon character, a character from gaming or comics, as well as a popular mascot or symbol from advertising). The catch? You are to reinvent this pop culture piece towards a completely different genre and medium to what the concept was already designed for (for example: Tony the Tiger as a character for a Grindhouse style movie). The character has to be recognizable enough as to clearly present the concept to a new audience with some level of identification, but different enough as to fit whatever genre you are bringing the character to.

·      Here is what your project will entail:
-       You will be developing three pieces to the ratio of 11X17 inch boards (either vertical or horizontal; The first piece will be a Character sheet showcasing the character in question in at least three different poses (one of which should be a clear, full body piece)
-       The second piece should represent a showcase piece (closer to a cover or a central piece that represents the way the concept should be presented to an investor or an art director (similar to your cover project, with the option for typography or cover elements.) This will serve to better present the mood and overall feel of your concept.
-       Finally, you will produce a third piece that showcases a story element or specific scene within your concept (should represent a different scene or environment from the one produced for your cover piece.) Between all three, you should have the makings of a proper pitch idea for reinventing a pre existing character. All pieces should be taken to final illustration desired (they must have some element of color, but how color is used and where is up to you; they just need to look finished.)
-       You will also include sketches, designs, or thumbnails connected to this final piece as part of your presentation (we will not review these in class but rather you will be responsible for demonstrating the work required for your project.

·      This project is to be done digitally and posted either on the blog or the MAA for final critique in class. We will be viewing all projects in front of class on the last day of our course. No late or incomplete work will be accepted.
